Deborah Solmor

Deborah Solmor, the visionary founder of Ready Set GC, has redefined the narrative of empowering women in the foundational years of their General Counsel role. Motivated by her firsthand experiences navigating challenges and identifying gaps in support, Deborah stands as a trailblazer dedicated to reshaping opportunities for women in pivotal positions. Currently serving as the General Counsel for Gateway Foundation, a leading non-profit in addiction medicine treatment, Deborah continues to demonstrate unparalleled legal and leadership skills.

A seasoned General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, Deborah is known for her strategic acumen in aligning legal strategies with institutional goals, mitigating risks, and enhancing financial efficiency. In her pivotal role as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary at a non-profit higher education system she led a team of attorneys and compliance professionals in support of six independent colleges and universities, boasting a total enrollment of more than 11,000 students and nearly $200 million in total system revenue. Prior to that, she held key positions at Perdoceo Education Corporation, as Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and Deputy General Counsel, Litigation.

Deborah is known for her strategic acumen in aligning legal strategies with institutional goals, mitigating risks, and enhancing financial efficiency.

Shaping Legal Excellence and Empowering Women Through Ready Set GC

Before moving in-house, Deborah's journey began with over two decades at the international law firm Skadden, where she represented clients in complex litigation matters. Her academic achievements include a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and a B.A in Economics from Northwestern University. 


Deborah actively contributes her time to various volunteer roles. She serves as the co-chair for the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, mentors law students at her alma mater, DePaul University College, and finds fulfillment in volunteering with Girls on the Run Chicago.

 

Beyond her legal acumen, Deborah is celebrated for her remarkable ability to build and mentor diverse legal teams, fostering collaboration and inclusive leadership. Her impactful journey stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment, not only to advancing her own career but also to paving the way for future women leaders in the legal field.
